You may have noticed over the last couple of weeks I’ve published a few posts revealing a little more about myself. As I ‘ve been tagged in a “bloghop”, today will be no exception!
I have been tagged by Jade from Thyme & Me, a gorgeous blog about natural health (my kind of blog!). We met (in an online sense, I suppose you still say met?) through the Clever Cookie School of blog which we are both currently enrolled in. So far it is all kinds of awesome and a beautiful caring little community!
Just to confirm for you, I am actually enrolled in three courses at present. Yep three. Do I work on my blog full time? Nope…look after my baby girls during the day and blog at night. Before you say anymore, yes I am MAD. Totally MAD. But I think that indicates how much I LOVE my blog. I love writing, researching, planning, designing and chatting to everyone who follows me. I think I have found my true passion in life!
But I digress; let’s get onto the questions I’m supposed to answer.
Why do I write?
Funnily enough (I say funnily as I am an accountant by “trade”), I have always enjoyed writing, but perhaps not realised it. I completed English Literature in High School (ok so I wasn’t head of the class or anything) and when I first (note the term “first”) went to uni enrolled in Journalism. That only lasted three weeks. Not my thing, I believed at the time.
Anyway fast forward to now and me starting this blog. The idea was to share my message of getting happy and how you can make very small and easy changes to your lifestyle and feel much better.
Little did I know writing for my blog is so enjoyable! I think it helps get all the random, rambling and at times ridiculous thoughts out of my head.
How does my writing differ from others in my genre?
This is a hard one…as there are so many really, really amazing blogs out there. I guess the difference in my blog is me. I’m just being me when I write and I hope that comes across. I’d like to think I’m approachable and when I am providing information I’m not talking down to or judging anyone, I just want to help…let me know if that’s not the case!
What am I working on?
What am I not working on is probably a better question (refer to the point on the 3 courses!). I’m halfway through a series on “The truth about gluten”, I’m planning another series on how to “Get Happy”, I’d like to start a “Heathy Recipes” link up and I’m also planning some Christmas posts for October to help everyone get organised and plan a healthy, stress free Christmas (and basically just because I love Christmas).
Why do I write what I do?
I feel like there is so much conflicting information available today and people don’t know where to turn. I also feel very strongly that our diet and lifestyle is making us sick. I want to share my passion that you can make changes in your life without labelling yourself as a certain diet or being super strict. I strongly feel everyone is different and you have to do what works for you. I really just want to get everyone to be aware of what’s in food they eat and products they use and just think a little bit more when buying things.
How does my writing process work?
Being an accountant, control freak and general spreadsheet queen, this will be of no surprise to anyone – that I have a spreadsheet of ideas!
I plan my weeks content in advance in my little (ok MASSIVE) spreadsheet and have a certain type of post I like to publish on set days. This is my basis for what I’m going to write about – but it seems to constantly change as I have so many ideas! Ideas in the shower, whilst driving, just before bed…sigh…it never ends!
So what does one ideas lady do with said ideas? If I think of an idea during the day I will jot it down in Evernote in my phone and add a picture of whatever it is or a web link to prompt me. Each night when I work on my blog (yep every night pretty much) I allocate some time to writing. Then I just go nuts! I type whatever comes into my head first, then later come back, put some structure around it and edit it to so it becomes a masterpiece of literary genius. Hmmm….
So there you go, so more revealing information about me…why I write and how I do it. Now I have to pass the baton on!
So I would like to introduce ….another Clever Cookie student Dayarne Smith. Dayarne blogs at Simple Joys and Silver Linings, where she blogs about “being real, telling stories and hoping I can get a few laughs along the way”. Check her out via her blog or facebook!
