If you’ve noticed a little “Yummly” button appear at the bottom of my recipes, you may be wondering what that’s all about. Well, let me tell you!
What is Yummly?
Don’t worry I didn’t know either until recently! Yummly is all about discovering the world’s best recipes. Yummly’s mission is to be the largest, most powerful, and most helpful food site in the world. So all the site contains is – you guessed it – recipes! If you visit Yummly, you’ll find there are recipes for EVERYTHING you could ever think of.
How does Yummly work?
Firstly you sign up and create your account. You can set your preferences for what you like to eat and other info. Then you are free to save recipes into your “recipe box”. You can create collections – for example “breakfast”, which gives you an easy way to save your recipes and actually FIND them later.
To search for recipes you can look at the suggestions they provide for you, or search as you would on google. There are great filtering options, including allergies and food preferences (such as vegetarian). So handy for those with food intolerances – easily search for any dish without having to spend ages googling!
You can even input what ingredients you have on hand and see what you can make based on that information.
How do I save the recipes?
Like Pinterest, you can install the Yummly “bookmarklet” and add that to your internet browser. When you see a recipe you like (maybe one of mine?!) you just click on the Yummly bookmarklet you have added to send it to your recipe box.
Or if you find a site (like mine) that has one of the Yummly buttons, you simply click on it to be taken to the Yummly site.
Once you have your recipes saved, you can select the ones you want to make and create a shopping list!
I hope you find Yummly useful, it is such a great way to find meal inspiration and save the recipes where you can find them easily. I especially love the search function, where you can easily exclude ingredients and find the exact recipe you want (I spend a lot of time googling “whatever free”, trust me!).
To find out more (and maybe sign up!), head to their information page.
And if you want to find me on Yummly, please visit my page :)
Or maybe you already use Yummly??? Am I behind the times? Possibly, as it does have over 15 million users a month!
