So the family would like to have a morning/afternoon tea for Mum. Sounds nice, but this kind of affair generally equals LOTS of sugar. So how can you plan a celebration that has some yummy treats for everyone but doesn’t make you feel sick looking at all the food (sorry, but this happens to me sometimes since I quit sugar!).
Well I thought I’d share some recipes I’ve found around the place that will leave your guests happy and your tummy thanking you too! So I’ve revived my “Real Food Round Up” for a special Mother’s Day Edition.
So what are the rules? Firstly they will be dishes I’d cook – so low fructose, no gluten and generally full of goodness (if one with higher fructose or gluten creeps in I will let you know and provide a substitute!).
The Real Food Round Up (Healthy Meal Plans) Mother’s Day High Tea Edition!
Brownie: Hazelnut Brownie from Alexx Stuart
Cookies: Healthy Chocolate chip cookies from Well Nourished
Muffins: Blueberry muffins from The Healthy Chef
Slice: Salted Tahini Caramel Bars from Plus Ate Six (note for lower fructose I would use rice malt syrup instead of maple syrup in the chocolate).
I will throw in a plug for myself and say if none of the above tickles your fancy, perhaps try one of my recipes! My banana bread, choc zucchini bread, Cacao pistachio slice or almond cookies might do the trick!
